More than 60,000 callers generated $6.1 million dollars during the Promesa y Esperanza (Promise and Hope) radiothon held by Univision Radio, a division of Univision Communications Inc. The radiothon, benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, took place February 7 and 8, 2008.
During the two-day broadcast event, St. Jude patients and their families visited the radio stations to share their St. Jude experience with listeners and volunteers. Hispanic celebrities also joined the St. Jude's life-saving mission by lending their voices during the radiothon. Among those who supported the event was singer Luis Fonsi, among many others.
